What is advances.in/psychology, and how is it different from other journals?

Updated 27 June 2026 · for-authors · about · overview

advances.in/psychology (ISSN 2976-937X) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes work across the various subfields of psychology and their intersections — including clinical and health, social/cultural/community, cognitive, developmental, organizational, forensic, sports and rehabilitation psychology, and research methods.

What makes us different

  • We pay our peer reviewers and editors for their work. Most journals rely on unpaid academic labour; we don't. See: Why do you pay peer reviewers?
  • Transparent peer review. Anonymous reviewer reports are published alongside each accepted article.
  • Gold open access — every article is immediately free to read worldwide under a CC-BY 4.0 licence. Authors keep their copyright.
  • Fast turnaround. Average ~10.9 days to first decision, ~4.8 months from submission to acceptance, ~8.8 days from acceptance to online publication. Current numbers at https://advances.in/psychology/.
  • Multidisciplinary scope within psychology, with intersections into adjacent fields actively encouraged.
