APC waivers and discounts: do I qualify?

We offer discounts and full waivers on the Article Processing Charge (APC) for authors who would otherwise be unable to publish open access with us.

Who qualifies

Either of these grounds is enough to be considered:

1. Insufficient institutional or project funding to cover the APC.
2. Affiliation with a country classified as a low- or lower-middle-income economy by the World Bank.

Waivers are assessed individually based on circumstances and journal resources.

Important: request before you submit

You must submit a waiver request before you submit the manuscript. Send the request through our contact form (or email [email protected]) and include:

• Your name and affiliation
• A short description of the planned manuscript
• The ground for the request (funding shortfall, country eligibility, or both)
• Any supporting context

Independence from editorial decisions

Waiver decisions are made independently of editorial decisions. The editorial team does not see whether a waiver was granted when assessing a manuscript, and the waiver team does not weigh the manuscript's scientific merit.
